| Al De Vito was born in Collingdale, Pennsylvania, and educated at the Philadelphia Museum College of Art. He later earned a Master of Fine Arts from Villanova University. He has been teaching art and photography for the past twenty-five years and is presently the head of the photography department at Fullerton College in Fullerton, California, USA.
Mr. De Vito's interest in photography dates from the age of fourteen. His serious attachment to photography began at sixteen when he bought his first 4x5 camera and continued through his formal education even though degrees in photography were not being offered. He has continued his study at numerous schools, including Brooks Institute of Photography. He has studied with such acknowledged masters as Ansel Adams, Cole Weston, and Jerry Uelsmann. Mr. De Vito's work has appeared in numerous shows and exhibitions including those at the Norton Simon Library and the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Orange County. Among the more recent exhibits are at the Cameravision Gallery in Los Angeles and the Galeria De Arts in Ensenada, B.C., Mexico. Mr. De Vito has also been featured in articles all over the world. |
